Villages Amateur Theatre Bylaws

Adopted and Ratified by the General Membership of Villages Amateur Theatre, The Villages, Florida.

ARTICLE I — NAME AND PURPOSE

Section 1: The name of this organization shall be the Villages Amateur Theatre, hereafter referred to as VAT.

Section 2: The objective of this organization shall be to foster an appreciation of theatrical arts, to provide community entertainment, and to offer residents of The Villages the opportunity to develop skills in all aspects of theatrical presentation, including acting, directing, set design, costuming, lighting, sound, and stage management.

ARTICLE II — MEMBERSHIP

Section 1: Membership is open to all bona fide residents of The Villages, Florida holding a valid Villages Resident ID card.

Section 2: Members in good standing shall have paid annual dues and shall enjoy voting privileges at general elections, priority consideration for cast and crew positions, and admittance to all club educational workshops.

ARTICLE III — BOARD OF DIRECTORS & OFFICERS

Section 1: The governing body of VAT shall be an elected Board of Directors consisting of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Technical Director, Production Manager, and Members-at-Large.

Section 2: Officers shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting and shall serve a term of two years.

ARTICLE IV — PRODUCTIONS & ROYALTIES

Section 1: All public performances must be properly licensed through recognized theatrical licensing agencies (e.g., Music Theatre International, Concord Theatricals, Dramatists Play Service), with all performance royalties and script purchase obligations fulfilled in advance.

Section 2: Casting decisions shall be made by the designated production director and audition committee in accordance with fair, non-discriminatory audition criteria.
