About The Villages Amateur Theater
The Villages Amateur Theatre was founded is 1974 and provides our 55+ leisure living community with an assortment of live performances throughout the year.
Membership and events are for The Villages Golf and Country Club residents and their guests.
We entertain our audiences with 2 major performances, one in the spring and one in the fall. Examples of our performances include: "My Fair Lady", "Harvey", "Guys and Dolls", and "Blithe Spirit".
We also provide a wide variety of Matinee Theatre performances. Matinee Theatre is a style of theater in which the actors partially memorize their lines intentionally. It began in ancient times, became popular in the 1940s and continues on today in community theater groups across the country and in schools.
Our experienced actors dress consistent with the play and add their emotions, passion and varied acting skills to bring the play to life. This helps the audience understand the story without the use of sets, costumes and movement across the stage The audiences uses their imagination to visualize the characters, action and setting. The end result is a unique and entertaining experience for both actors and audience.
Matinee Theatre plays are performed for our 55+ leisure living community and to local Assisted Living facilities.
"At this stage in our lives, the Villages Amateur Theatre provides something for everyone who enjoys community theater whether you are on stage, back stage, or simply watching the stage. Join us and have some fun."
